About Hannah
Hannah Brooks has taught piano in Orpington for over fifteen years — first from a home studio, and since 2018 from Maple Grove on Station Road.
Background
Hannah studied piano at the Royal College of Music and completed a PGCE in secondary music before deciding that one-to-one teaching was where she did her best work. She holds ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Theory, with LRSM performance and ongoing professional development through the ISM.
Her approach is calm and methodical. Students know what to expect each week: warm-up, review of last week's assignment, new material, and a clear note in the practice diary. She believes progress comes from consistent practice and honest feedback, not from cramming before exams.
Many of her students stay from primary school through to university — a testament to lessons that adapt as they grow, without losing the sense that piano is something to enjoy, not endure.
The studio
Maple Grove Piano occupies the ground floor of 42 Station Road — a converted shopfront with two acoustic pianos (a Yamaha U1 upright and a Kawai baby grand for advanced students and recital rehearsal).
The waiting area has chairs, a small library of music, and Wi-Fi for parents. There is step-free access from the street and a toilet on the same level.
